Report on The seven-day online workshop on Ancient Nāgarī Script, which began on October 24, concluded successfully on October 30. The workshop was jointly organized by the Departments of Hindi and Sanskrit, D.H.S.K. College (Autonomous), in collaboration with The Academia Research Centre, Jaipur, Rajasthan.
A good number of students and faculty members from D.H.S.K. College participated in the workshop, along with professors from Dibrugarh University and various affiliated colleges.
In the inaugural session, the Principal and Vice-Principal of the college highlighted the relevance and necessity of such workshops in the preservation of Indian manuscripts, stating that D.H.S.K. College will continue to make efforts in this field. Principal Dr. Sashi Kanta Saikia appreciated the efforts of the organizers and encouraged them to continue organizing similar workshops in the future to contribute to the preservation of India’s ancient and valuable heritage.
The Coordinator of the workshop, Dr. Lakhima Deori, Head of the Department of Hindi, took the lead in organizing the seven-day event. The sessions were conducted online by Mr. Anand Sharma, Project Assistant, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi, a script expert and trainer, who guided the participants in learning the techniques of writing in the Ancient Nāgarī Script.
During the valedictory session, Dr. Jyoti Prasad Phukan of the college lauded Mr. Anand Sharma for his dedicated efforts and praised his vast knowledge and expertise as a script specialist.
Among the participants, Dr. Sikha Mani Koch Dewri, Head of the Department of Assamese, and Dr. Kalyani Das, Head of the Department of Sanskrit, shared their delightful experiences and reflections on the workshop.
Concluding the workshop successfully, Dr. Lakhima Deori expressed her gratitude to all the members who contributed to the organization and success of this seven-day Ancient Nāgarī Script workshop.
