Health and Hygiene Cell of DHSK College Hosts Back-to-Back Programs on Mental Health and Eye Donation Awareness

The Health and Hygiene Cell of DHSK College, Dibrugarh, recently organized two impactful programs aimed at raising awareness on critical health issues among students and faculty. The first event, held in collaboration with the Department of Psychology, was an International Talk on "Mental Health and Productivity." This session, which began at 11:30 AM, featured Dr. Daisy Lakharu, a Senior Public Health Expert and Life Transformation Coach based in Geneva, Switzerland, as the keynote speaker. The event drew an enthusiastic crowd, filling the hall with students and faculty members from the Departments of Psychology and Political Science, as well as members of the Health and Hygiene Cell. The Department of Psychology was represented by its Head, Ms. Upasana Dutta.

Prominent attendees included Dr. P.D. Goswami, Vice Principal of DHSK College, Dr. Anup Jyoti Bharali, IQAC Coordinator, Dr. L. Doungel, Head of the Department of Political Science, Ms. Anjumoni, Head of the Department of Assamese, and Ms. Urmila Ramchiary from the Department of Philosophy. The session underscored the vital role of mental health in enhancing productivity and provided valuable strategies for managing stress and improving overall well-being.

The second program was an Awareness Seminar on Eye Donation, organized jointly by Drishti Netralaya, the Health and Hygiene Cell, Bharat Vikash Parishad, and the Department of Political Science, DHSK College. Dr. Ramesh Agarwalla, proprietor of Drishti Netralaya, Dibrugarh, led the session, supported by his team and Ms. Moitree Bhomick, Secretary of Bharat Vikash Parishad. The seminar began with a warm welcome from Dr. L. Doungel, Head and Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science, who expressed his gratitude to Drishti Netralaya for their initiative in promoting such a significant cause.

Both programs were marked by active participation from students, who engaged in lively discussions and posed insightful questions. A highlight of the Eye Donation Awareness Seminar was the enthusiastic response from several students who signed the 'Eye Donation Pledge' card, committing themselves to this noble cause.

The successful execution of these events highlights the ongoing efforts of DHSK College's Health and Hygiene Cell to promote health awareness and foster community engagement among its students and faculty. The events concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Anjumoni Phukan, Joint Coordinator of the Health and Hygiene Cell, DHSK College.//
