Field Study
The students of 3rd semesters were taken to Poba Reserve Forest , located in Jonai
, Dhemaji , district , Assam. It was established in 1941 during the British
colonial era and covers an area of 10,221 hectares . Initially designated for
forest and wildlife conservation, it faced challenges over the decades due to
deforestations , agricultural encroachment and human settlements. In the
1980s and 2000s , POBA gained recognition for its biodiversity , hosting species
like elephants , leopards, variety of birds , etc. In 2020 , the Assam government announced plans to upgrade Poba to
National Park status to ensure better conservation and management .The students examined the physical environment and studied the bio diversity of the Poba reserve forest.
