A One-day Seminar on “Opportunities in Industry and Information Technology” was organized by the Department of Computer Science (BCA).The resource person for the event was Dr. Pranjal Kr. Phukan ,General Manager BCPL, Dibrugarh, Assam.

Dr. Pranjal Kr. Phukan is a highly accomplished and results-driven procurement and sourcing professional with over 26 years of progressive experience in procurement, sourcing, and green supply chain management in various industries with Tata Motors, General Motors, Aircel, Airtel and BCPL. He is Doctorate in Business Management (DBA) from Swiss School of Business and Management (Geneva, Switzerland), B.Tech (Production Engineering) from B.I.T Sindri (Jharkhand), Post Graduate Program (Materials Management) from Indian Management School & Research Centre, Mumbai and Post Graduate Program (Supply Chain Management) from YCMOU, Nashik. He is Honorary Professor of Practice at Woxsen University Hyderabad and Guest Faculty to Dhaka School of Economics, Bangladesh in Entrepreneurial Economics. Dr. Phukan is Honorary Consultant on Green Hydrogen, Bio CNG/CBG, Ethanol blending, Green manufacturing to various reputed organizations in India & abroad. He is also a Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer and Certified Solar Power Engineer. In addition to that, Dr. Phukan is International Certified Accreditation, Ranking and Assessment Trainer for Higher Educations Institutes in India.
In this session Dr. Pranjal Phukan sir discussed about Industry 5.0 and its history, Industry 5.0 vs. 4.0 and how that in industry 4.0 dark factories were made and the human beings were replaced by the machines. Therefore in industry 5.0 the humans and machines were designed to work compatible with each other. He made us understand relevant factors related to AI and how AI plays vital role in growth and development of a nation. He discussed about the 6R principles , i.e, Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Repair .Nine technology in industry 5.0 namely Augmented Reality, Additive manufacturing such as 3d printing, Cyber security, Industrial IOT, Big data and analytics , Autonomous robots ,Horizontal and Vertical Integration system ,The cloud ,Simulation. Different impacts of industry 5.0 and Benefits of industry 5.0 .
He advised that the students should stay up-to-date with the latest technology and learn how to use it effectively. They should be familiar with the latest advancements in automation, robotics, big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and the IoT. Students should focus on developing problem-solving skills, as Industry 5.0 will require workers who can think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems. Industry 5.0 will require workers who can communicate effectively with machines and other humans. Students should focus on developing their communication skills ,both verbal and written. Students should develop a growth mindset and be willing to learn and adapt to new technologies and ways of working. He also gave the tips on how to prepare for the future and the capabilities a students should focus in order to engage with industry 5.0 , along with an entrepreneurial mindset .
