Library

The DHSK College library is named as Ashwini Charan Choudhury Central Library in honour of the visionary and architect of DHSK College, Late Ashwini Charan Choudhury. The library was established in the year 1945, the same year when the college came into being. The present library is situated at the North of the college campus. It is a two storied building with approximate floor area of 5000 sq ft. The whole building is organized in separate sections for text books, reference collection, reading area, bound volume, computer section, circulation section, reprography section, Digital Library section and librarian’s room. The reading hall and a part of the text book section is housed at the first flood of the library. The reading hall of the library is a large area with a capacity of more than 100 users.
  The objectives of the library are

• To support the classroom curriculum and extra curriculum activities of the students.
• To provide lifelong learning facility to the authentic users of the library.
• To promote reading habit among the users.
• To promote literacy and dissemination of information.

This is the time of paradigm shift in the field of libraries at this information age. The DHSK college library has come a long way since its establishment in terms of collection of materials and providing services to the users. The library is now shifting towards automation and since 2012 circulation service is provided fully in automated process. The process of digitization of some of the rare and old materials is under process. The question papers in digital format are already available for use by the students.
The library has a total collection of 42500 as on 31st March 2021.The collection covers the text and reference on wide range of subject areas. The library has a rich collection of Sanskrit books, back volumes of journals and college magazines since its very first publication and 86 number of rare books. The library subscribes to e-journals through N-List e-journal consortia. Library subscribes to 12 regional and national dailies and weeklies and also 6 popular magazines.
